I've enjoyed finding your site.... the information is fresh, a real find!
I have a question for Gian, if possible. There has been a unique discovery made within the last couple of years concerning a geological anomoly only referred to as "the Blob". It is a pocket, presumably of primary water, located just outside of the planet's outer core in the mantle. It is in direct alignment with the Bahamian chain of islands...most directly to Bimini. It was an obscure find during net research I began in 2001 concerning Bimini and unusual phenomena relative to it. I have tried to 'lock down' the information again and again......without much luck. Still, I have a print out of the diagram and brief data. My interest is in it's primary water implication. I am wondering if you have any information concerning this?
I grew up on caribbean seas... My family home is in Lighthouse Point (Hillsboro Inlet) below Boca Raton. I come from a family of boaters. My childhood was spent on the water throughout the caribbean. Most especially Bimini. I've experienced phenomena that many have documented before and after me..... I compliment you on the work presented on this site. Most especially the sketches of the 'temple stones' I found initially while doing more research. thank you ghb

Frankly, I haven't heard aboput that at all. But I'd like ot hear more about it. Also, what kind of phenomena did you encounter near Bimini, and when, if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you for your reply.........!
What kind of phenomenon? Oh gee........let me try give this some form of chronology......
The first time we went to Bimini by boat I was 9. I clearly remember my Mom pointing out the 'stones' just barely beneath us as we began to manuver into Bimini, to the Angler's Club (then).......getting into Bimini with a 4' draw required a zigzag approach. As I grew up, my sister and I were given a 13' Boston Whaler and friends with small boats from the neighborhood (Lighthouse Pt and Boca Raton) ....we would run out to Bimini and back on a 'dare'. That's how it began. Soon, we were 'sneaking out' at night to do this 'dare' game and a few of us actually would make it past the gulf stream towards the islands. Both parents were Power Squadron, teachers in it as well and we were not allowed on our lil' dighny until we had passed basic seamanship. Navigation was required too. So we used a compass and the yearly chart, charting a course, to find the heading needed to go to Bimini directly. Anyone with experience realizes how 'dependable' LAN / computer equipment is, let alone the old radio direction finders. NO......not in the Triangle. Phenomena: the magnetics flux's were common approaching the gulf stream....wherever it wandered......compass spinning out.......we used to make bets on when they would begin to. I was always interested in the celestial positions.....and I'm aware that this kept me relatively safe in finding my way back to mainland FL at night The compass queer-ness was my first hands on experience. Water vortexes......whirlpools ............ I was drawn to them almost hypnotically! I used to 'run into' them just going out past the gulf and I could sense them....(yes this does sound strange.....still, I still am able to sense weather and elemental phenomena). I would keep a good distance from them, edging back with my throttle almost steadily. They were huge! The largest seemed about the size of 2 football fields. I tried to find explanation for them.......subterranean (sp) tunnels creating water shoots / vortexes and even checking (years later) Navy records of sonar testing, etc. Nothing can completely explain them. Yet, I assure you, they are a regular event off the coast of south FL. Only once did I 'happen' on one at night..........it 'felt' different and I stayed as long as I dared........which in truth was probably about 10 mins. On the way back to shore, I can remember that I had the citylights in sight, I 'ran into' a fog..........out there the weather can change so suddenly fast......like a curtin being drawn across the arc of the horizon. I just kept my heading and eventually I came out of this fog close to Boca inlet. That 'fog' was frieghtening.....it too seemed 'magnetic', like stuck to me. There is one other event, one that remains pretty outstanding......though it wasn't actually underway to the islands. This occured as we were making our way through Fetherbed Cut, leaving the mangrove isles coming out of Biscane Bay headed for Key Largo. We were just out of it, as I said........following the markers, not so far from shore. I was sitting on the cabin top, as was my habit, watching the sea when the atmosphere went 'dead'. I mean it felt like some sort of vacum, no motion, no stir, nothing. Our engines shut down and the resulting backwash of the wake pushed the boat into a small glide. Everything had a 'shut down gray' quality to it......environment, sea, even the inside of my head. My Mom raced up from the galley and began telling me to get inside the boat. The land wasn't really that far away, yet it looked as though it was. The water was glass. I was making my way back using the handholds along the wheelhouse when a tiny shudder below me began and then just that quick a large, long object that was glowing a gold color raced directly beneath our hull. Just like that. A few seconds later the engines began running and the boat was lurching forward though I did hold on. No, I don't know what it truly was. My Mom took a valium. You know? It was unusual as hell. The 'vehicle' that passed beneath us was very large. We had a 52' yacht, not too broad in the beam, though.... sportfisherman, a Hattie. Quick as this object was, it was easily twice or thrice the length of the boat. I experienced a tintitus for a few days afterwords. This didn't disaude me from the sea, nor the family. Though Mom was a bit shook (and that took a bit of doing)....hell, we all were. I was 16 then. Logically, I would think the Navy would employ more carefull pilots/captians if this were a naval vessel of some manufacture. Though, if it were, we would have seen it's appearance by now? I try to keep my feet on the earth when concluding ..... still, I guess you can guess what I think occurred to me and my family that afternoon. I still question what my eyes see in Cancun or even here in the backyard of liberty on the south shore of Boston. Yet that day, I FELT it clearly and it was as though being 'touched'. The tintitus comes every so often........still.
As for the phenomenon of the 'Blob'........I've tried hard to lock it down......and still do. It has been removed from the net........can't find it. I keep sending out inquries to geologists and ecologists who have an interest.
I know that the area most configure as the Bermuda Triangle is a bit 'off'............it does extend through the state of FL into the Gulf of MX. And it has a 'traveling' quality to it, just like the gulf stream.

Most of this phenomena was during the beginning of the '70's. I still get out there when I go home...though nothing has been shakin' since the mid 80's ........
